Reporting a number that looks wrong

This is the most useful thing you can write about, and it is worth doing even if you are not certain. Every rate here traces to a named central bank publication, which means a wrong number is a bug with a definite answer rather than a matter of opinion — it can be checked against the source and corrected.

Every rate page carries a report it link next to the section explaining where that rate came from. It opens a message with the page and the rate already filled in, so all you need to add is what looks wrong and, if you have one, the figure you expected and where you saw it. Write about a correction directly if you would rather.

One thing worth ruling out first: the rates here are the reference rates central banks publish, not the rates banks and transfer services trade at. If a number here differs from what your provider quoted you, that gap is the provider’s margin and fees, which is explained on every pair page rather than hidden. A genuine error looks different: a rate that contradicts the source’s own publication for that day.

Sources

Suggestions for sources are welcome, with one condition that is not negotiable: the publisher has to permit reuse in terms that can be read and cited. The source register lists what is in use, and also what was reviewed and rejected, with the reason. Parallel, street and peer-to-peer rates are not published here at any price.
