How to read these rates

A reference rate is what a central bank publishes, usually once per working day. It is not a price you can transact at: transfer services add a fee and a margin on the rate itself, which is normally the larger of the two costs. Every rate page sets out both, and the methodology explains how derived rates are calculated and which rates this site will not publish.
